Thoughts of summer

"In summer, the song sings itself"
~ William Carlos Williams
To honor this most carefree season
I am taking some tips from
style maven and "good things" expert,
Martha Stewart.
Throw open the doors,
letting air and light
infuse a home with freshness

Hang mosquito netting
from the rafters
to make slumbers
flow like dreams
Display gifts from nature,
remnants of days at the sea shore,
alongside cast-off items found
while treasure hunting

Sometimes the most important things
in life are a porch swing and a tall glass
of iced tea

Lines blurred between the out-of-doors and in
keep us connected to
the cycles and seasons of nature's dance

Fresh-cut flowers are instant room
and mood brighteners

Sunshine does a waltz across bare floors

There is nothing better than a handsome man
who has a way with food and decor.

Free-flowing arrangements are the most
welcoming and inviting.
I hope you take some time to enjoy the season.
Until next time...
Anne

  1. hi anne,

    what a wonderful list.

i have a handsome man but he can't cook & the only thing he knows about design is that whatever it is it mostly likely needs to be white. i wonder where he got that crazy idea from?

hope you are having a wonderful summer and that your dining room is coming along.

  3. Hi Anne,
Wonderful thoughts to live by! I even wrote them down and pinned them on my inspiration board. This is just how I want to live everyday. Nature, flowers, sunshine, light and a handsome man....honestly, what more do we need?
    Enjoy your summer days!

  4. I am. All these images are delightful. I bought a straw garden hat today to keep the sun off my face.

  7. 91 and muggy here,
    today, so there won't
    be any doors thrown
    open around here,
    nor iced tea on the
    deck : ( !!!
    However, I did love
    these few minutes
    of dreaming of such
    an afternoon ~
    thank you!
    xx Suzanne
